Lola gives up booze for Cancer Research!
Our Content Strategist, Lola, has given up alcohol for the whole of January in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research.
Lola is taking part in their national Dryathlon and has set a target of £200 to raise by the end of the month.
She says “At Christmas we ran a great campaign for Town Centre Car Parks about drink driving and it got me thinking about how much I drink every month. I’ve always wanted to detox at the start of the year but never stuck to it longer than a week! I knew if I was doing it for charity that would give me enough inspiration to actually get on with it.
“Cancer Research is important to a lot of people at Snapshot Media because so many of us have families affected by cancer. My Granny Annie died 2 years ago of the disease and it seems medieval to me that we haven’t managed to cure it yet. Her birthday was in January so I’ve been thinking about her lots – it seems like the perfect time to do something in her memory to help.
“I’ve had amazing support from my friends and colleagues. My friends at Wax Bar on New Briggate have even agreed to give me and other Dryathletes free soft drinks for the whole of January. I’d especially like to thank some of our clients that have sponsored me – I’m 80% of the way toward my target already!”
