Parallax Launch Unity Homes & Enterprise
This week sees the launch of another one of our great Leeds clients – Unity Housing & Enterprise.
Unity Homes was formed in 1987 with the aim of building a strong, BME-led, community housing association to meet the housing needs of black and minority ethnic communities throughout Leeds. Their offices are based on Chapeltown Road and it’s been great to work with another local client.
Unity Homes came to us with a strong visual identity but their old website was outdated and difficult to navigate. They had very distinct ideas about what their tenants needed from their website and we were able to build clear user personas to help us scope out the project and define the user experience to make a sitemap, wireframes and design.
Design
Louis, one of our Senior Designers, worked with Unity on the new website’s design and says “Unity are a friendly, approachable housing association with a strong visual identity so it was a great brand to work with. There are lots of bright colours in their logo which we’ve used throughout the colour scheme of the website and I think this really reflects their warm and helpful attitude towards their tenants. They had a lot of great imagery of their tenants and staff too so we wanted to use that to show users what they can expect from Unity.”
Functionality
Lola and Lauren looked after the project and say “We were really happy to transform Unity’s bland, dull brochure style website into something they can be really proud of. Unity had great ideas about what would be useful for their tenants and so there’s some fantastic functionality on there such an events calendar, staff profiles so tenants can put a face to the names they are dealing with and forms for reporting repairs or any other issues tenants might need help with.
The site is also split into different sections and then further broken down using tabs. This is so that users can easily find the information they need at the click of a button. Unity also have a great range of leaflets that users can download from the website in one click!”
Accessibility
Because Unity is a public sector company their website needs to comply with accessibility standards. The new website has functionality that includes:
