Content Marketing Showcase
We love great content marketing at Parallax. Whether it’s an email newsletter, infographic or social campaign, we’re always excited to see what’s happening across the internet.
Content might make us laugh, cry, or even surprise us, but it’s playing on emotions that enables brands to reap rewards online.
Using content can help businesses to grow brand recognition, gain exposure and ultimately build their digital presence. Delivering entertaining and engaging content is essential in conveying brand identity and values.
As a digital marketing agency, we’ve decided to put together a regular feature called the ‘Content Marketing Showcase’ that includes a selection of our favourite content marketing that we’ve seen across the past two weeks.
Read on to see what’s made our list this week.
Sky Bet
Premier League transfer deadline day is without a doubt one of the most exciting times in the footballing calendar. Football fans across the United Kingdom spend their time glued to the internet, radio and particularly Sky Sports News to find out if clubs can sign the players they want before the transfer window slams shut. SSN presenter Jim White has become famous for his round the clock coverage and overexcitement, becoming a staple part of the deadline day drama.
To join in the fun and raise awareness for their betting site, Sky Bet used a series of Promoted Posts on Facebook giving fans the chance to download a cut out and keep Jim White mask bringing them closer to the action.
Directing fans to download the mask using Scribed, the eye-catching post received 3,800 page views and over 180 shares and 500 likes on Facebook.
Old Spice
Old Spice are renowned for their creative marketing. Who can forget their off the wall TV adverts starring Terry Crews?
Taking a different route, Old Spice have created an unbelievable, interactive piece of content marketing aiming to help you with job interviews, the Teach Me To Job campaign. By utilising the webcam on your computer, the user is encouraged to try and keep eye contact with the “boss” for as long as possible whilst an array of distractions pop up on screen, including an unexpected dancing stapler. If you break eye contact, you fail.
Old Spice seem to enjoy using humour as part of their marketing strategy and that creates fun, engaging content that people love to read, watch and share. We can’t wait to see what they’ve got coming next.
AMC’s Breaking Bad
In case you’ve been living under a metaphorical rock for the past few years, Breaking Bad is one of the biggest American TV dramas in recent years. Starring Bryan Cranston as a struggling high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, he turns to producing crystal meth to secure his family’s financial future.
Since 2008, it has grown hugely in popularity, becoming recognised as one of the greatest TV dramas of all time and now entering its final season. Social media has been instrumental in the buzz around Breaking Bad with Facebook and Twitter helping to turn the show into a real phenomenon.
To coincide with the fifth and final season, AMC have put together some really exciting content for fans visiting the Facebook page. With over 5.2 million ‘likes’, AMC have recognised this as an area that they can effectively engage with their audience and have turned the page into a genuine community for fans. As well as the unique hashtags and high quality video and images, AMC has created some interactive content that is fun, and a great way to promote the show using social media.
The first piece of interactive content created is the #BBaddict game, allowing users to complete individual challenges to win official prizes. Users can also collect points for each challenge that they complete, unlocking exclusive content along the way. Fans are also encouraged to gather additional points by connecting different social media networks to the game and signing up to the newsletter; a great way for AMC to gather consumer data along the way.
Running alongside this, they’ve also created the Breaking Bad Name Lab, allowing Facebook fans to transform their name using periodic element symbols to match the iconic logo. Users can then share and download the name or use it as their Facebook Cover Photo or Profile Picture. The ideal promotion!
It’s fantastic content, and we’re even more excited for the final episode!
