Five Brands With Brilliant Blogs
It’s no secret that everybody knows how important it is to blog these days. With Google switching up their algorithms and the emergence of content marketing, it’s vital to the success of every brand online. Getting it right however is a completely different ball game.
Here at Parallax, we love seeing brands producing captivating content and beautiful imagery that helps to engage fans.
What makes a great blog?
As a digital agency, we get asked this on a regular basis.
“How do I create a blog that will help engage our fans and improve our search engine rankings?”
Let’s try and answer that question briefly.
Most importantly, give the visitors amazing content that they’ll want to share. Create regular compelling content that is entertaining and easy to consume. Think about using Q&A’s, interviews, tips and advice, behind the scenes images and videos, as well as in-depth articles. Keep the content up to date so you’re working alongside Google’s algorithms. Ensure you professionally edit your content – consumers in particular don’t want to read marketing jargon or be sold to.
Providing your users with a flawless experience is also key to a successful blog. A well designed blog will result in happier readers, higher engagement and returning visitors. Too many blogs are littered with advertising and poor layouts.
Don’t forget to make the content easily sharable throughout the blog. Mashable have some really great sharing features.
Some of our favourites
Standard Culture
This is one of our favourites here at Parallax. The Standard hotels are some of the most gorgeous boutique hotels on the planet and to match their slick, modern brand, they’ve put together this impressive blog to run alongside it. It features great content about the cities where the hotels are located, events, interviews, music recommendations and much more. One very cool feature is the gallery where every guest can either email or share a picture on Instagram of their stay and it’ll get uploaded – a very nice use of user-generated content.
Michael Kors
Fashion designer Michael Kors recently launched the amazing Destination Kors blog on their website. Featuring a gorgeous design, style advice, destination tips, and wise words from the man himself, it’s not one to be missed.
Ableton
Ableton are one of the market leaders in digital music creation. Last year saw them introduce two new groundbreaking products: Ableton Live 9 and Push. In parallel to this, they launched a new website with a heavily integrated blog including amazing content such as tutorials, advice, and artist interviews.
If you’re into making music, this is definitely one that’ll hit the nail on the head.
Esquire
2013 saw a vast amount of media websites locking their website content down forcing subscriptions upon users. Whilst Esquire have their printed magazine and digital version for smartphones and tablets, they’ve converted their website into an incredibly engaging blog. With some brilliant responsive design and fantastic content, Esquire are creating something really special. This has been recognised with an award at the DMA’s for ‘Magazine Website of the Year’.
Bowers & Wilkins
Bowers & Wilkins make some of the most elegant high end audio systems around from headphones to speakers. They’ve created a blog that caters fantastically well for their target audience with a simple design, great experience, and content such as ‘Five favourite recordings to hear through your headphones’ and much more.
An engaging blog should be a key part of your digital marketing strategy and never be an afterthought. If you’re looking for a digital agency to help you out with creating something unique, Parallax would love to hear from you.
